Root Beer

Root beer has always been one of my favorite beverages since I was a child. When I stopped eating and drinking sugar, I had a hard time finding a replacement.

Even though this isn't made from the traditional ingredients, I have to say, it tastes a lot like root beer, and satisfies my taste buds. I looked at making a tea of the traditional root beer ingredients, but some of them have questionable health effects, and they are difficult to find. This version is quick and can be made using ingredients you can find in any supermarket or natural food store.

You'll need an eyedropper to measure this one. You can find them at any drug store.

makes 3 1/2 teaspoons extract

3 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract

  1. Mix the two extracts together in a small bottle or jar.
  2. To make the root beer, add 12 drops of this extract and 1/8 teaspoon stevia to 1 cup of sparkling water. Serve over ice.
